Hello, I'm Matthew — a something(?) engineer based in South Africa with a passion for making and breaking things, namely rather expensive bits of infrastructure and dreams. I enjoy working on the big things — words like cluster, scale, and architecture make me extremely happy and nervous.
When I'm not causing or fixing P1 outages, I like to pretend I can do useful things with my hands. Some home-brewing stuff, some home-server stuff, and fiddling with things I shouldn't like my house electrics and plumbing. I also like causing home-grown service outages by hitting my server with a hammer or breaking DNS records on the router. I also like gardening and a select genre of books.
IDK :) im staring July 01 2026
I did a bunch of things. Its hard even to describe my role. I did code, cloud, kubernetes, AI, coffee, making friends, and horsing around. A formative experience I can't believe I was lucky enough to have.
I made key contributions to the theory and practice of hydrated soil projectile (HSP) engineering. Main areas of focus: HSP ballistics and trajectory modeling, composition refinement, supply chain optimization, and Human-Mud interaction studies.
